"I was hungry and you gave me food..."
[Matthew 25:35-36]
Morris Brown African Methodist Episcopal Church, affectionately known as “Mo Brown" has been situated in the heart of North Philadelphia since 1881. We are a community church rooted in the liberating gospel of Jesus Christ and the legacy of our namesake, Bishop Morris Brown, a freedom fighter, justice builder, and visionary leader in the AME Church, the first Black denomination in the United States. Proudly proclaiming ourselves to be “a church relevant to the revolution,” we continue the work of faith that meets people’s needs, echoing the words of Jesus: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matthew 25:35–36). Guided by this call, we are committed to loving God, serving our neighbors, and transforming our community for generations to come.
