The Reverend Bryan S. McAllister and the Reverend Kamaria Byrd-McAllister serve together in ministry at Morris Brown African Methodist Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, PA, affectionately known as “Mo Brown.” Married partners in life and in service, they embody the church’s mission to be “a church relevant to the revolution,” rooted in the liberating gospel of Jesus Christ and the legacy of Bishop Morris Brown.

Pastor Bryan, a native of Downingtown, PA, is a graduate of Norfolk State University and Payne Theological Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity with distinction. He is also a highly decorated US Airfare veteran. Since receiving his first ordination, Pastor Bryan has served congregations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is passionate about youth mentorship, founding the “My Life Matters” program for boys ages 10–17. He has also been active in advocacy and social justice, working with organizations addressing homelessness, racial equity, and systemic change.

Rev. Kamaria, a native of New Jersey, was ordained an itinerant elder in the AME Church in 2022 and is a graduate of The College of New Jersey. She holds an M.Div. with a certificate in Black Church Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary, where she received the George E. Sweazy Award for Excellence in Homiletics, and an MSW from Rutgers University. With over a decade of experience in mental health services and as a clinically-trained licensed social worker, she currently serves as Director of Mental Health & Pastoral Care at a church in NJ. Her ministry is marked by a deep commitment to serving youth and communities living along the margins.

Together, the McAllisters are the proud parents of one daughter. United in their calling, they seek to love God, serve their neighbors, and live God’s justice out loud; believing, as Scripture reminds, that “only what we do for Christ will last.”
